Required Subspecialty –( 2 weeks/1 week/1 wk vac)   Outpatient clinics –4 weeks
  Newborn Nursery – 4 wks    Outpatient clinics –4 weeks
 (if 7th- elective/vac – 3wks + 1 wk)   (if 7th –  1 week vacation (for total of 2) +1 week of inpt (for a total of 4) + holiday coverage)

Abbreviations/Named services:
PACC= pediatrics acute care clinic
NICU= neonatal ICU
H/O= heme-onc wards on pediatrics
Morgan= general medicine service at VUMC
Harrison= inpatient cardiology service VUMC
VA= veterans administration hospital
MICU= medical ICU
PICU= pediatric ICU

Pediatrics Component Requirements:

Internal Medicine Component Requirements:

Must have 9 blocks of inpatient pediatrics care

Minimum 20 blocks of direct pt care

- One PICU

- Minimum 8 blocks caring for  hospitalized pts

- Two NICU

- Two blocks MICU - one as intern, one as supervisor

- Five inpatient ward months

- Maximum blocks night float

- One newborn nursery

 

 

 

Must have 6 blocks subspecialty experience

Minimum 4 blocks subspecialty.

- One developmental-behavioral pediatrics

- Significant exposure to cards

- One adolescent

- Experience in geriatrics

 

 

Four from subspecialty list below

 

Must have 4 ambulatory experiences

One-third IM training experience in an ambulatory setting

- Two in peds ED

- One block in  ED - 1st or 2nd year

- Two in outpatient clinic (to include community peds/advocacy)

 

 

 

Must have at least 4 blocks in a supervisory role

Minimum 6 blocks in a supervisory role

 

 

Must have an individualized curriculum

Reg attendance at teaching conferences
