Core Experiences: (Approximately 32 weeks)

  1. Vanderbilt Consult service and PCU: 16 weeks
  2. VA Consult service and PU: 16 weeks
  3. Outpatients Clinics: 32 weeks/year *

     *When on VU rotation trainee will attend Clinic at 100 Oaks with Dr. Martin on Tuesdays      between 1 PM and 5 PM

     *When on VA rotation trainee will attend clinic at the VA with Dr. Misra on Thursdays between 9 AM-Noon

Mandatory Experiences: (Approximately 15 weeks)

1. Hospice: 6 weeks plus 4 weeks rolled into VA rotation

2. Long Term Care: 4 weeks

3. Pediatrics: 2 weeks

4. Integrated Health 1 week

5. Ethics 1 week

6. Community based palliative care 1 week

Electives:(2 weeks).

 This experience is tailored to the individual trainee’s needs and interests and typically designed at least 8-10 weeks prior to the actual start date. This will be initiated by the coordinator. Possible options are but not limited to:

  • Geriatrics  and Geriatric Psychiatry
  • Oncology (Hematology, Bone marrow Transplant, Solid Tumors etc.)
  • Heart Failure Clinics and LVAD program
  • Pulmonary Clinics
  • Trauma
  • Neurology (Movement disorders, ALS)
  • Acute Pain Clinic
  • Wound Care
  • Radiation Oncology
