Andy Terker, MD
Oregon Health & Science University
Andy was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He attended Swarthmore College where he majored in mathematics & statistics and, most importantly, met his wife, Samantha. After college, he followed Samantha to Seattle, Washington where he worked in a lab studying HIV before moving to Portland, Oregon to enter the MD/PhD program at Oregon Health & Science University. At OHSU Andy fell in love with renal physiology while completing his dissertation on how the distal nephron determines potassium balance and blood pressure. Along the way, he met his third (in sequence, but certainly not in order!) love(s) of his life, his two beautiful boys, Brody and Judah. When not working he has enjoyed exploring the Pacific Northwest with his family over the last decade through skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and camping. Andy and his family are excited to be coming to Vanderbilt and look forward to starting their garden in their backyard, doing some hiking in and around Nashville, and experiencing Southern culture.
