Professional Bio

Bradley Richmond, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine within the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Dr. Richmond completed his baccalaureate degree (summa cum laude) at the University of Evansville and his medical degree (cum laude) at the University of Louisville. While a medical student, he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

After completing his internal medicine residency at Vanderbilt, Dr. Richmond spent a year studying sarcoidosis pathogenesis in the laboratory of Dr. Wonder Drake. He remained at Vanderbilt to complete his clinical fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine. During his research fellowship, Dr. Richmond has worked in the laboratory of Dr. Timothy Blackwell where his research focuses on how alterations in the mucosal immune system of the lungs contribute to the pathogenesis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Dr. Richmond’s research is funded by a Senior Research Training Fellowship from the American Lung Association, and he has also successfully competed for a National Institutes of Health (NIH) Loan Repayment Award and an NIH K12 award. Dr. Richmond currently sees patients at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Nashville, in both the outpatient and inpatient setting. He has a particular clinical interest in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and deployment-related respiratory disease.

Dr. Richmond is board-certified in internal and pulmonary medicine and is a member of the American Thoracic Society.
