Professional Bio

Brett Kinzig is a nurse practitioner at the Vanderbilt Eskind Diabetes Clinic. After graduating from Middle Tennessee State University, he attended graduate school at Vanderbilt University. At Vanderbilt, he completed training as an Advanced Practice Nurse and was subsequently certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. His educational training centered on primary care with a subspecialty focus in the management of cardiovascular diseases, including the management of Diabetes Mellitus, hypertension and hyperlipidemia. Previously, he worked as a Registered Nurse in Vanderbilt’s Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit.

With more than a decade of endocrinology experience serving a diverse population, Mr. Kinzig’s major professional interests concern the management of Diabetes Mellitus and other cardiovascular risk factors such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia and obesity. He strongly believes in the power and efficacy of preventative care, health promotion and patient education in the successful management of these conditions. To further contribute and as a member of the teaching faculty he is actively involved in the education and development of medical students and nurse practitioners. In addition, he is a certified pump trainer and a member of the American Diabetes Association, Tennessee Nurses Association and Middle Tennessee Advanced Practice Nurses.
