His clinical interests include ex vivo lung perfusion (EVLP), a new technique that has the potential to increase the supply of donor lungs by rehabilitating organs previously considered too damaged for transplant. His interests also include interventional bronchoscopy after lung transplantation and the use of point-of-care ultrasound in ICU management.
Dr. Erasmus is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians and the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation. In addition to his clinical and administrative responsibilities, he is also involved in the education of fellows, medical residents, and medical students.
