Professional Bio
Dr. Dawn Wiese is interested in the effects of nutrition on gastrointestinal diseases—how nutrition therapy can modulate disease activity and how disease can affect nutritional status. Her past research has focused on nutrition and its role in inflammatory bowel disease. Clinically, she will focus on diseases that affect the small intestine, particularly celiac disease and inflammatory bowel disease. She hopes to improve care for patients with celiac disease at Vanderbilt by creating a Celiac Disease Center. The goal of this center will be to offer multidisciplinary care to patients with celiac disease and to create a foundation for research.
