Debra Dixon, MD, MS
Fellowship: Vanderbilt University Medical Center
Debra was raised in Cincinnati, OH. As a child, she jumped rope competitively and on a good day can still do a trick or two. She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and double majored in Biology & Spanish with a minor in Chemistry. While in college, her experiences as a Robertson Scholar helped her to solidify her interest in medicine, research and caring for the underserved. Her love of research led her to attend the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University where she could develop as a physician and a scientist. After taking a year during medical school to conduct cardiovascular research and complete her Master’s in Clinical Research, Debra was confident that she wanted to pursue a career in academic cardiology. In her free time, Debra enjoys traveling, photography, playing board games, and music. Debra will start residency as a newlywed after marrying her spades partner, Kristopher. She is thrilled to be joining the Vanderbilt family as a Harrison Scholar. Both Debra and Kris are looking forward to warmer weather and all that Nashville has to offer!
