Professional Highlights

Dr. Budhwani received B.S., cum laude, from The University of Houston, TX in 2003.  She obtained a Master’s in Public Health from The University of Texas School of Public Health with honors, in 2010.  During her Master’s program, she focused on learning about quality of life and health disparities in elderly population. Her research focus was on sexual intimacy in older adults and its effects on their mental well-being. After graduation, she worked for Baylor College of Medicine as a Clinical Research Coordinator focusing on research in HIV patients.

To pursue her dream of becoming a Geriatrician, she attended St. George’s University School of Medicine, Grenada, WI and earned M.D., cum laude in 2015.  She completed Family Medicine residency at Christus Health/Texas A&M School of Medicine, Corpus Christi, TX in 2018. During her residency, Dr. Budhwani was actively involved in Graduate Medical Education team, residency recruitment process, served as resident representative at local County Medical Society and volunteered at local medical events. She also served as a Co-Chief Resident during her third year. For her dedication towards education, leadership and excellent patient care, she received prestigious leadership and excellence in Family Medicine awards. After residency, she pursued fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at Christus Health/Texas A&M School of Medicine, which she completed in 2019. 

Dr. Budhwani is passionate about treating older patients and focusing not only on medical illnesses, but also understanding how cultural backgrounds affect health of the patients. Her research interests include improving quality of life of elderly patients, sexually transmitted diseases in elderly, polypharmacy, and opioid use in elderly.
