Katherine Heckman, MD, MS
Gastroenterology/Hepatology, Transplant Medicine, Medical Education, Comparative Medicine
Kate grew up in Northeast Ohio. She attended Grove City College in Pennsylvania, where she studied electrical engineering and French, and ran cross country and track. She pursued graduate education in biomedical engineering at Virginia Tech before betraying her family of Buckeye fans to study medicine at the University of Michigan. Her career interests lie in gastroenterology and transplant medicine, and her professional passions include medical education and comparative medicine. Personally, she loves spending time with her husband and two cats, Boo and Gracie. She enjoys running, attempting alternative forms of exercise (so far weightlifting, triathlons, and boxing), gardening, and all things animal-related.
