Professional Bio

Katherine Bachmann, MD, MSCI, is an endocrinologist and clinical researcher at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) and at the Nashville VA Medical Center. Dr. Bachmann earned her Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Harvard University, and her medical degree from University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, and her fellowship in Endocrinology at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical Center. She obtained her Master of Science in Clinical Investigation (MSCI) from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.
 
Dr. Bachmann joined faculty at VUMC in 2015, and currently holds a VA Career Development Award. Her overall research interest is in obesity and obesity-induced cardiometabolic dysfunction, with a goal to improve the understanding of and therapies for obesity and obesity-induced metabolic complications.
