Professional Bio

r. Ciombor received her bachelor’s degree in biochemical sciences from Harvard University in 2001 and her medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in 2005. She went on to complete her internship, residency, and chief residency training in internal medicine at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital/Veterans Administration in Miami, Florida. Dr. Ciombor then moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue a hematology-oncology fellowship, GI oncology research fellowship and a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation at Vanderbilt. She joined the faculty at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, as an Assistant Professor of internal medicine in 2013. She returned to Vanderbilt as a faculty member in gastrointestinal medical oncology in 2017. Dr. Ciombor is interested in developing new therapeutics in GI malignancies through clinical trials, as well as translational research for the development of prognostic and predictive biomarkers and a better understanding of genomics in colorectal cancer.
