Professional Bio

Tyson Heller, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Public Health within the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

He attended college at Rice University in Houston, and then took a year off between undergraduate and medical school and spent six months volunteering in a clinic in Guadalajara, Mexico, and another six months mentoring orphans in St. Petersburg, Russia. He then attended medical school in San Antonio, before completing his internal medicine residency at Vanderbilt.

Dr. Heller is dedicated to improving IV access in wards floor patients and house-wide codes through quality improvement projects. He has participated in research pertaining to the diagnosis of GERD and outcomes in ECMO patients, but he most identifies himself as a clinical educator of residents and medical students, and is a member of the resident teaching academy.
