Melis Sahinoz, MD
Melis was born and raised in the capital of Turkey, Ankara. She completed a bilingual high school education with an International Baccalaureate diploma and received her medical degree from Hacettepe University. During her training, she did an away rotation for basic research in pulmonary physiology at Heidelberg University in Germany and translational research on insulin resistance and diabetes at the University of Michigan. She went on to complete a clinical elective at Harvard in Endocrinology. After graduation, she moved to Nashville for a postdoctoral fellowship in the Ikizler Lab and has spent the last two years at Vanderbilt doing clinical research on the mechanisms of immune system activation in hypertension. She is thrilled to be staying at Vanderbilt! In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, playing tennis, meditating, playing the piano, and spending time with her musician friends in Nashville.
