Professional Bio

Michael J. Herring, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Public Health within the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from St. Michael's College and went on to study and publish numerous papers pertaining to the effects of testosterone and hypothermia on acute myocardial infarctions. After his research, Dr. Herring completed medical school and residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. He enjoys employing coaching management techniques for treatment of diabetes, and specializes in using exercise and nutrition as preventive care measures.
