Dr. Michelle Griffith joins Vanderbilt from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), where she served as Medical Director of the Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology before transitioning to the role of Clinical Lead of the Endocrine Telehealth Unit. At UPMC, she helped to develop a successful telemedicine service focused on glycemic management for rural patients. After less than five years of practice in Pittsburgh, she was nominated by peers as one of Pittsburgh’s best doctors (Pittsburgh Magazine, 2016). She is interested in promoting telemedicine as a tool to deliver specialty care, as well as other models of care delivery. She is also interested in the coordination of care across networks and promoting efficient care practices with a primary focus on diabetes. Clinically, Dr. Griffith particularly enjoys taking care of patients with type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, and thyroid disease, and she is looking forward to building a clinical practice at Vanderbilt. Outside of work, her interests include running and spending time outside.
