Robert Corty, MD
St. Petersburg, FL
Rheumatology, Immunology, Research
Robert was born in Washington, D.C. and grew up in beautiful St. Petersburg, Florida along with his younger brother, Edward. They played sports year-round -- tennis, basketball, and cross country running. He studied biology at Harvard and then moved back to Florida where he volunteered at the St. Petersburg Free Clinic. He moved to Chapel Hill, North Carolina to join the UNC MD-PhD program and received the PhD for work focused on statistical methods for genetic mapping. He developed a love for rheumatology during his clinical work in UNC's rheumatology division. He still loves playing sports in his free time, now mainly trail running and tennis. He is thrilled to join Vanderbilt and the Harrison Society!
