Professional Bio

Dr. Sahar K. Takkouche, MD, is from New York. She received her Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of New York's Brooklyn College. She worked as a research assistant at New York University studying clinical nutrition, metabolism, and its impact on cardiovascular disease. Dr. Takkouche obtained her medical degree from the American University of Antigua College of Medicine in 2017. She completed her internal medicine residency in New York at the Brooklyn Hospital, an affiliate of Mount Sinai. She completed a fellowship in obesity medicine, serving as the inaugural fellow for the program.  She has been awarded the Best in Brooklyn by former New York State Senator, Marty Markowitz. Her academic interests focus on education of medical students, residents, and fellows. Her research interests include metabolism, gut microbiome, NASH/NAFLD, bariatric medicine and diabetes. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with friends & family, hiking and sampling new recipes.
