Professional Bio

Tanaya (Niki) Summers, MSN, is an Assistant in Medicine in the Division of Nephrology within the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

She is interested in all aspects of nephrology including chronic kidney disease, end stage renal disease, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and transplantation. She is especially passionate about patient education to promote more patient involvement in self-care. Summers is interested in learning about the physiology and metabolic factors affecting transplant rejection.

As a kidney transplant recipient and nephrology nurse practitioner, Summers plans to be involved with research related to kidney transplantation in the near future.
