Professional Bio

Tim Thayer, MD, is a general cardiologist in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), where he also serves as Director of Targeted Temperature Management for Post-cardiac Arrest Care in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. His broad clinical interests range from outpatient care of under-served patients to critical care cardiology. His clinical research focuses on the intersection of red blood cells and cardiovascular diseases.  
 
Dr. Thayer earned his medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, and completed his Internal Medicine residency and Cardiovascular Medicine fellowship training at VUMC before joining faculty in 2022. He is board certified in internal medicine.
