Professional Bio
Alexander Dragnich, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC). He treats patients as part of the Vanderbilt Lung Institute and Vanderbilt Transplant Center. He received his medical degree with honors from SUNY Upstate Medical University, where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. His residency and chief residency were completed at the University of Washington Medical Center. He received his fellowship training in pulmonary and critical care medicine as well as lung transplantation at VUMC.
Dr. Dragnich's academic interests reside in medical education, specifically surrounding the area of lung transplantation. His research focuses on the clinical impact of frailty, physical conditioning, delirium, and neurocognitive impairment on outcomes in lung transplantation. Clinically, he specializes in the care of patients with advanced lung diseases, lung transplantation, and the critically ill requiring extra corporeal life support.
Dr. Dragnich mentors medical residents and clinical fellows primarily in the areas of medical education, critical care and lung transplantation.
