Professional Bio
Anil Trindade, MD, is Associate Professor in the Division of Allergy, Pulmonary, and Critical Care Medicine, Department of Medicine, and Associate Medical Director for Lung Transplant at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Dr. Trindale received his MD degree from Duke University and went on to complete his residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Following residency, he completed fellowship training in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Harvard Medical School, where he focused in basic science research identifying the role of microRNA in the pathogenesis of lymphangioleiomyomatosis. Dr. Trindade was appointed to the Harvard Medical School faculty in 2012, but let for a brief stint in private practice at North Shore Medical Center (Salem, MA). He returned to academia three years later, joining the faculty at Columbia University Medical Center, where he specialized in advanced lung disease.
Dr. Trindade joined the faculty at Vanderbilt in 2019. At Vanderbilt, he has worked with others to build the lung transplant clinical and translational research program, focused on improving outcomes in lung transplant recipients. He has received several investigator-initiated trials to study novel uses of donor-derived cell-free DNA as a biomarker for refractory acute rejection and chronic lung allograft dysfunction. He has funding for a clinical trial to assess the safety and tolerability of early use Envarsus to minimize side-effects of calcineurin inhibitors. In addition, Dr. Trindade is the site PI for an NIH-funded study assessing alternative strategies of influenza vaccination to improve immunogenicity.
Dr. Trindade also mentors fellows, nurse practitioners and pharmacists on myriad other projects focused on pragmatic aspects of optimizing lung allograft recipient outcomes. He serves on the UNOS Disease Transmission Advisory Committee and is a member of the Lung Scientific Advisory Board for Care Dx, Inc.
