Ayman was born and raised in Alexandria, Egypt, where the sun shines on the warm Mediterranean shores for most of the year. He attended medical school there and developed a passion for improving outcomes of hematologic malignancies through cell-based therapies. After completing his internal medicine and hematology-oncology training in Egypt, he moved to the United States with his wife and daughter to pursue specialized BMT training followed by three years of translational research on vagal neuro-immune modulation in inflammatory disorders at Duke university. Ayman's work on autonomic modulation inspired him to join Vanderbilt as a clinical fellow in autonomic dysfunction, where he could learn clinical autonomics from world-class physicians. In his free time, Ayman enjoys spending time with his family, playing soccer, hiking, and practicing Olympic-style archery. He is thrilled to continue his journey with the wonderful Vanderbilt family for an additional three years.
