Professional Bio
Ban Mishu Allos, MD, is Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She received her bachelors degree from Emory University, attended medical school at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis, and did her Internal Medicine residency at Loyola University School of Medicine. She was an epidemic intelligence service (EIS) officer with the Centers for Disease Control and then spent another year at the CDC working in bacterial foodborne diseases. She completed her fellowship and infectious diseases at Vanderbilt where she studied the relationship between Campylobacter jejuni infection and Guillain Barre syndrome. She also served as a member of the CDC advisory committee on immunization practices (ACIP). In recent years, Dr. Allos has become immersed in medical student education. She is the director of the microbiology and immunology course for first year medical students. She also serves as a mentor in one of the medical school's learning communities. She works in the Vanderbilt outpatient infectious diseases clinic and also sees patients on the inpatient consult service.
