Professional Bio
Brooke Anita Bailey, DNP, MSN, is Lead Nurse Practitioner for the Advanced Lung Disease Service at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. As an Assistant in Medicine on the faculty in the Department of Medicine, Dr. Bailey functions as an acute care nurse practitioner, providing for around-the-clock coverage in collaboration with other members of the health care team. As Lead Nurse Practitioner, she provides leadership to her team and participates in recruitment and onboarding. Prior to her faculty appointment, Dr. Bailey worked for six years as a nurse practitioner in Vanderbilt's Medical Intensive Care Unit. Her outstanding service to the Vanderbilt MICU includes expertise in point of care ultrasound, a subject on which she has published and conducted several workshops. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the American Nurses Association, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Bailey earned a baccalaureate degree in biology, followed by an associate’s degree in nursing at Southern Adventist University in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She went on to obtain a baccalaureate degree in nursing at Loma Linda University in California. Dr. Bailey worked as a registered nurse in the MICU at Loma Linda University Medical Center and became adjunct faculty at Loma Linda University School of Nursing. She earned a master's degree in nursing from UCLA and then earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. She simultaneously enrolled in an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Intensivist fellowship at Vanderbilt School of Nursing, and completed both programs in 2016.
