Carlos was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is a first-generation Mexican American and was the first in his family to pursue higher education. For his undergraduate education, he attended Northeastern University, where he majored in Behavioral Neuroscience. Carlos then spent a gap year working in a medical informatics lab and volunteering with Boston Health Care for the Homeless. He then attended Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, where he served the underserved as a volunteer at the Shade Tree Clinic. In his free time, Carlos enjoys watching and playing sports, attending concerts and music festivals, trying out new restaurants and coffee shops, and traveling. Among his interests are cardiology and critical care, and he looks forward to learning from his new colleagues!
