Cesar Campos Cuellar
Interests

Cesar practiced Wushu (also known as Kung-Fu) since he was five, competing at the national and international level for over 10 years. Those skills were foundational throughout his stay at medical school and afterward as a practicing physician. After graduation, he worked for one year as a rural physician in the high mountains of Peru. This experience instilled a passion for coming back and helping the most underserved areas of his home country. He then began his scientific journey in the US working as a research fellow at Mayo Clinic Florida. One of his goals is to create connections between Vanderbilt University and Peruvian academic institutions with the purpose of research collaboration and knowledge-sharing regarding conditions prevalent in Peru, such as high-altitude or tropical diseases. He wants to excel and put the Peruvian flag in Nashville, inspiring future Peruvian colleagues to pursue academic careers in top academic institutions such as Vanderbilt.
