Professional Bio
Christopher Terndrup, MD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Public Health, Department of Medicine, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
He graduated with a BA in Spanish from Tulane University with honors and induction into Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He stayed for medical school, graduating at the top of his class with induction into Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Societies. He completed his internship and residency at Johns Hopkins in the Urban Health Primary Care Leadership Track, where he served as Chair of the House Staff Council. During his training, he developed special interests in healthcare for LGBTQ+ and LatinX populations. He has taught throughout his life, from tutoring for math and MCATs to now teaching medical trainees in clinical care.
Dr. Terndrup spent six years at OHSU where he was the Assistant Program Director for Ambulatory Medicine, with educational footprints in Health Systems Science and LGBTQ+ care, and is the recipient of the Marion L. Krippaehne, M.D. Humanism Award. He was acknowledged for Outstanding Contribution to Professionalism at OHSU in 2021 for his role as Medical Director for the Internal Medicine Clinic during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He joined Vanderbilt in 2022 as core faculty for the residency program and to assist in the development of the LGBTQ+ Healthcare Fellowship and Clinic.
