Professional Bio
Daniel Cook, MD, PhD, is an Instructor in Medicine in the Division of Allergy, Pulmonary, and Critical Care Medicine, Department of Medicine, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
He received his PhD in Molecular Physiology and Biophysics, as well as his medical degree, from the Carver College of Medicine as part of a Medical Scientist Training Program. He subsequently completed an Internal Medicine Residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center as part of the Physician Scientist Training Program. He began training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at VUMC under the mentorship of Dr. Stokes Peebles.
Dr. Cook's long-term goal is to translate basic scientific research into meaningful clinical outcomes for individuals with cystic fibrosis (CF) as a physician scientist. He hopes to utilize his knowledge of CF disease mechanisms and clinical experiences to generate therapies and cures for CF lung disease, with particular interest in understanding inflammation within the CF lung.
Dr. Cook is a recipient of the LeRoy Matthews Physician Scientist Career Development Award, and his current work is funded by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
