David Patrick, MD, PhD, is a physician-scientist in the Divisions of Clinical Pharmacology and Cardiovascular Medicine in the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. His laboratory focuses on the role immune activation in cardiovascular disease with a specific interest in systemic autoimmune conditions.
Specifically, his laboratory focuses on the role of electrophilic lipids as drivers of innate immune cell activation in hypertension. Additional studies focus on the roles of neutrophils and neutrophil extracellular traps in the development of cardiovascular disease. His research program consists of basic, clinical, and translational components with the goal of identifying novel therapeutic targets for the treatment of cardiovascular and systemic autoimmune conditions.
The ultimate goals of the Patrick lab are to identify novel therapeutic targets for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases and to improve our understanding of the mechanisms underlying the early development of cardiovascular diseases in individuals affected by systemic autoimmune conditions.
