Professional Bio
Dawn Adams, MD, MS, is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition within the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She is interested in the effects of nutrition on gastrointestinal diseases, how nutrition therapy can modulate disease activity, and how disease can affect nutritional status. Her past research has focused on nutrition and its role in inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease and short bowel syndrome. Clinically, she focuses on diseases of the small intestine, including celiac disease, intestinal failure, short bowel syndrome and other rare small bowel diseases. She is the director of the Center for Human Nutrition at Vanderbilt Medical Center, and founded and directs the Vanderbilt Celiac Disease Clinic. Her inpatient work is focused on parenteral nutrition or other advanced nutrition support needs for hospitalized patients. Her clinic offers multidisciplinary care and research opportunities for patients with these diseases.
