Professional Bio
Deborah K. Newitz, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine on the Clinical Practice track in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Public Health, Department of Medicine, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
She received her bachelor's and MD degrees from Albert Einstein School of Medicine in New York and completed an Internal Medicine residency at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She received a grant from Baxter- Edwards CVS Division which resulted in suspended distribution of the Edwards Duromedics valve in 1988. She has co-authored papers on Natural Killer Cell Activity and Coccidiomycosis.
With a strong interest in medical education, Dr. Newitz was the course director of the Montefiore Physical Diagnosis Workshop, site director for Introduction to Clinical Medicine and the third-year Medicine Clerkship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She was also the site director for Introduction to Clinical Medicine at Stony Brook School of Medicine.
She has been a Castle Connolly Top Doctor since 2014.
