Professional Bio
Dudley McNitt, PhD, is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Division of Rheumatology and Immunology, Department of Medicine, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
He received his BS in Biology from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and his PhD in Immunology and Microbial Pathogenesis from West Virginia University. Currently, Dr. McNitt's research in the laboratory of Rachel Bonami is focused on understanding how B and T lymphocyte interactions support the autoimmune response in type 1 diabetes. His research and training has been supported by fellowship awards from the American Association of Immunologists and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
After his postdoc, Dr. McNitt plans to continue his career in academia, working to fill key knowledge gaps in the type 1 diabetes autoimmune process that can help guide future therapeutic interventions.
