Eleanor Christenson
Professional Bio
Eleanor Christenson, MD, is Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Born and raised in Milwaukee, she received her bachelor’s in chemistry with honors at Fordham University, during which time she was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Society. She subsequently received her Doctor of Medicine from Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine. Prior to graduation, she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She stayed in St. Louis to complete her internal medicine internship and residency at Washington University in St. Louis. After residency, she was selected to be the Chief Resident in Quality and Safety in the Department of Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine and at the VA St. Louis Health Care System. Dr. Christenson completed a cardiology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She was selected as Chief Cardiology Fellow during her fellowship and was awarded the Heart and Vascular Institute Fellow's Research Grant. Throughout her medical training, she has been active in clinical research, quality improvement, and medical education. Her areas of interest are women's cardiovascular disease and cardio-obstetrics, in particular hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and guidance directed care of spontaneous coronary artery dissection. She has presented on these subjects at national conferences and authored multiple manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals.
