Professional Bio
Elizabeth (Beth) Coughlin, MSN, is an Assistant in Medicine in the Division of Geriatric Medicine within the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. After working as a registered nurse in critical care for almost five years, Ms. Coughlin received her Master of Science in Nursing as an Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner with a specialty in geriatrics at Vanderbilt University in 2017. During her years as a nurse in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit, she participated as a fellow in the Evidence-Based Nursing Research Fellowship and the Cal Turner Jr. Moral Leadership Fellowship at Vanderbilt. She has been involved in the Ethics Committee at Vanderbilt University Medical Center since 2015. Through her bioethics work and training in research, her professional interests are further aligned with caring for chronic conditions in older adults and providing education regarding end-of-life care. She has collaborated with the Tennessee State Health Insurance Programs to assist in educating older adults about choosing Medicare plans.
