Professional Bio
Emily Barker, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Public Health within the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Barker graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine. After completing her training in internal medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, she was on the faculty at the University of California in San Diego for two years, where she taught third-year medical students during their internal medicine rotation and served as co-medical director of VA San Diego's Systems Redesign, a national collaboration for quality improvement in VA hospitals. In 2009, Dr. Barker co-developed River Oaks Doctors Group (RODG) in Houston after realizing that modern medicine did not allow her to practice in a way she felt every patient deserved. While at RODG and continuing today, Dr. Barker thrives on close and lasting relationships with her patients as though they are family. She knows who they are, what medications they are taking, and who their families are. She believes nothing is more rewarding than making a difference in the life of someone who has entrusted his or her health and well-being to her.
