Felipe Ridolfi
Professional Bio
Felipe Ridolfi, MD, MSc, PhD, is an Infectious Diseases (ID) Specialist and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the TB Center within the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC). His current postdoctoral research focuses primarily on tuberculosis (TB) drug concentrations in persons with diabetes. He is also investigating the progression of TB among contacts across international sites of the Regional Prospective Observational Research in Tuberculosis (RePORT), as well as TB case representativeness and treatment outcomes of the TB Sentinel Research Network (TB-SRN). Dr. Ridolfi completed his MD and ID training in Brazil and has extensive experience in TB, TB/HIV, and multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) management. He obtained his MSc and PhD in Clinical Research in Infectious Diseases from the National Institute of Infectious Disease Evandro Chagas, Fiocruz, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His PhD research explored factors influencing TB treatment outcomes, adverse drug reactions, and genetic variants that affect antiretroviral metabolism. During his PhD program, he spent one year abroad at VUMC as part of a sandwich program and was hosted by the TB Center. His recent work on isoniazid levels according to glycated hemoglobin has been accepted for presentation at the upcoming CROI 2025, where he also received a New Investigator Scholarship to attend the conference. After completing his PhD in Brazil, Dr. Ridolfi was invited to return to VUMC to continue his research under the mentorship of Dr. Timothy Sterling. Looking forward, Dr. Ridolfi aims to establish himself as a researcher and a board-certified clinician in the United States while strengthening collaborations between VUMC, Fiocruz, and other institutions worldwide.
