Francis Miller, MD, is a Professor and physician-scientist investigator in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine within the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Iowa and completed an internal medicine residency at UT Southwestern in Dallas before returning to Iowa for a cardiology fellowship. As a practicing cardiologist, he strives to unite findings in the research lab with human disease. His current research program is identifying: the role of NADPH oxidases in cardiovascular health and disease; synthetic RNA ligands as novel therapies. He has been funded by the NIH, DOD, VA, AHA, and NSF. Dr. Miller is an avid supporter of physician-scientists and has received awards for housestaff teaching and mentorship of graduate students.
