Professional Bio
Hayden Shafer, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Public Health, Department of Medicine, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He provides care through the Program for LGBTQ Health, specializing in delivery of primary care and gender affirming treatments across the state.
He graduated from East Tennessee State University Quillen College of Medicine, and he completed his residency training at the University of North Carolina in Family Medicine. He worked in Vanderbilt's acute care clinics through the COVID-19 pandemic as part of the outpatient COVID evaluation services. He has been featured on the medical education podcast "Primary Care Review and Perspectives," covering topics of LGBTQ+ care.
