Professional Bio
Hunter Huston, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine’s Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC). He received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine, and completed his residency at the University of Utah Department of Internal Medicine where he served as chief resident. He did his fellowship, serving as chief fellow, in Nephrology at VUMC. At that time, Dr. Huston spent two years in the Immunology lab of Dr. James Thomas in the Department of Medicine’s Division of Rheumatology and Immunology, working on a number of projects related to Type 1 Diabetes and Insulin as an antigen for T-cell stimulation. Following completion of his training, Dr. Huston worked in private practice and as faculty at academic medical centers where he was able to provide medical training for residents and pilot a novel Onconephrology program. He returned to VUMC as faculty in 2023.
