Professional Bio
Jay Patel, MD, RPVI, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and an interventional cardiologist with Vanderbilt Heart and Vascular Institute in Franklin, Tennessee.
He is board-certified in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular medicine, and internal medicine. He completed his completed undergraduate studies at the University of Kentucky followed by medical degree at the University of Louisville and graduated Summa Cum Laude. He completed Internal Medicine training at Washington University in St. Louis, MO, followed by completing both, cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology fellowships at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
After medical training, he worked in semi-academic practice as an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Nashville, TN and an Interventional Cardiologist. He served on many leadership committees including interventional cardiology, chest pain, and cardiac rehabilitation committees, and many others. He has had immense involvement in education of both residency and fellowship programs. Dr. Patel has experience in clinical research and has participated in multiple clinical trials.
Dr. Patel has a special interest in interventional cardiology with endovascular cardiac and peripheral vascular procedures along with the management of complex coronary disease and precision PCI with imaging and physiology. He is also incredibly passionate about Fellows' education and helping the next generation of physicians. He provides acute care, care for chronic conditions, and preventative cardiac care to adult patients of all ages. He strives to provide individualized modern medical care and treats each patient as a family member.
