John was born and raised in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. John played baseball from five years old through high school. He initially thought he was going to the MLB, but after realizing he was 5’7”, he decided to pursue medicine instead. He attended college at the University of Florida where he earned his degree in health science and public health before continuing his education at UF College of Medicine. There, John decided on neurology due to the love for his little sister, Mary, and her lifelong battle with severe neurodevelopmental disabilities. In his free time, John loves watching college football (Go Gators and now Anchor Down), eating tacos, and being a dad to his two cats: Spyro and Sparx.
