Professional Bio
Katherine Seymour, MD, is a double board-certified physician specializing in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine's Division of General Internal Medicine and Public Health at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC). Dr. Seymour's academic journey began at Denison University, where she studied biology and dance, graduating summa cum laude. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Kansas Medical Center, where she graduated first in her class and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. Continuing her training, Dr. Seymour completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at VUMC. She has since held various clinical and academic appointments, including serving as a primary care physician at St. Thomas Medical Group and Heritage Medical Associates. Dr. Seymour has also served on the health board for the professional dancers at Nashville Ballet. Dr. Seymour has been recognized for her excellence in teaching, receiving accolades from both students and colleagues. In addition to her clinical practice and teaching responsibilities, she is actively engaged in community health initiatives, volunteering at free medical clinics and coordinating events to promote healthcare access among underserved populations. Her dedication to global health is demonstrated through her international health care experiences in countries such as Zambia and Tanzania. Dr. Seymour's commitment to advancing medical knowledge is underscored by her involvement in research spanning various areas, including genetics, immunology, and healthcare barriers. Dr. Seymour continues to make significant contributions to health care, education, and community well-being, and embodies the values of compassion, integrity, and excellence while inspiring those around her with her unwavering dedication to improving patient outcomes and advancing medical science.
