Professional Bio
Dr. Laurie Shackleford, DNP, FNP, has worked as a family nurse practitioner for 21 years. After earning her MSN from Vanderbilt she began her practice as a family NP in Middle Tennessee. She joined Vanderbilt in 2004 and gained research experience in the area of type 2 diabetes. In 2013, she completed her DNP at Vanderbilt and currently serves as the Associate Administrative Director for the Vanderbilt Center for Diabetes Translation Research. Her research interests and experience are in the areas of type 2 diabetes management, diabetes self-management education, telemedicine, and diabetes prevention. Dr. Shackleford joins the faculty of the Division of General Internal Medicine and Public Health and practices with the Williamson Medical Group.
