Professional Bio
Laventa Mildred Obare, MBChB, is a postdoctoral research fellow with extensive experience in infectious diseases.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Medicine and Surgery from Moi University College of Health Sciences in Kenya, as well as certificates in Implementation Science from the University of Washington and Foundations of Clinical Research from Harvard Medical University.
Dr. Obare's research focuses on the intersection of HIV and cardiometabolic diseases, investigating immunological mechanisms underlying disease progression and complications. In addition to her research work, she has also worked as a clinical trials coordinator at Kenya Medical Research Institute working on trials including the Kenya single dose HPV vaccine trial and as a research assistant at AMPATH Kenya.
She has published research in peer-reviewed journals and presented her findings at national and international conferences. Dr. Obare has received awards and recognitions for her work, including the prestigious Mandela Washington Fellowship, the HIV Vaccine Science Academy fellowship, the Global Vaccine Enterprise Young Investigator Award, and the Women Leaders in Global Health scholarship.
Dr. Obare is a member of several professional organizations, including the International AIDS Society, and continues to work towards advancing the field of infectious diseases research.
