Professional Bio
Tyson Heller, MD, is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Public Health within the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
He attended college at Rice University, and then took a year off between undergraduate and medical school and spent six months volunteering in a clinic in Guadalajara, Mexico, and another six months mentoring orphans in St. Petersburg, Russia. He then attended medical school in San Antonio before completing his internal medicine residency at Vanderbilt.
In his career at Vanderbilt, spanning more than a decade, Dr. Heller has dedicated himself to improving bedside procedural outcomes for patients at VUMC through the creation of a bedside procedure service focused on training residents and medical students to become competent and confident in the performance of minimally-invasive bedside procedures.
In 2016 Dr. Heller founded Vanderbilt's bedside procedure consultation service and continues to act as its medical director. He continues to train faculty and residents in the performance of minimally invasive bedside procedures and most identifies himself as a clinical educator of the entire spectrum of learners from faculty to residents and medical students alike.
