Professional Bio
Margaret Salisbury, MD, MS, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Allergy, Pulmonary, and Critical Care Medicine within the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Dr. Salisbury's research interests are in optimizing the understanding of the natural history, subtyping, and treatment of patients with interstitial lung diseases. Her lab's ongoing prospective cohort study is designed to evaluate how the environment and host interact to influence pulmonary fibrosis phenotypes and outcomes. In addition, she directs the Familial Pulmonary Fibrosis Registry, which enrolls patients with pulmonary fibrosis and their asymptomatic relatives. In a nested prospective cohort study designed to understand the subclinical natural history of pulmonary fibrosis, asymptomatic relatives undergo serial screening assessments to identify and track early disease progression.
Dr. Salisbury sees patients in the Vanderbilt Lung Institute's Interstitial Lung Disease Center. She is a participating site sub-investigator in numerous clinical trials testing new therapies for pulmonary fibrosis. In addition, she directs clinical aspects of Vanderbilt's Familial Pulmonary Fibrosis Program.
