Marjorie is a native of Knoxville, Tennessee and received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Exercise Science from the University of Georgia in 2016, where she was point guard for the Women’s Basketball Team. During her medical training, Marjorie focused on sports medicine and service, and studied strategies for reducing health disparities through community outreach, medical ethics, digital communication engagement strategies, and technologies for improvement of value-based care. As part of her community outreach work, Marjorie volunteered with the Shade Tree Clinic and provided peripheral artery disease screening and education in local Nashville churches. She has also coached youth basketball and served as the Webb School of Knoxville COVID Coordinator in 2021. Marjorie played her first full season of Professional Women’s Basketball with Athlete’s Unlimited in Las Vegas in 2022. She is passionate about reducing stigma associated with race, sexuality, substance use, and high-performing athletes among other underrepresented communities. Apart from her medical pursuits, Marjorie loves to spend time with family and friends. She is a recent puppy mom and plant mom who enjoys fellowship, learning, connecting with new people, and discovering opportunities for growth. She is excited to join the Vanderbilt team and grateful for the opportunity to serve the Nashville community.
