Merranda Holmes
Professional Bio
Merranda Holmes, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Vanderbilt University Medical Center Department of Medicine. She is a combined Internal Medicine and Pediatric Hospitalist, serves as a Master Clinical Teacher ( MCT) for the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, and is the co-director for the Internal Medicine Resident Global Health Pathway. She received her BS in Biology from Middle Tennessee State University in 2010, followed by her MD at East Tennessee State University Quillen College of Medicine in 2014. She completed her Med-Peds residency at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and Cincinnati Children's Hospital in 2018. Dr. Holmes is interested in serving vulnerable and medically complex patient populations, with an interest in adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and how they impact mental health, hospital readmissions, and chronic disease progression over the course of a lifetime. As a Hospitalist, she spends her time on the Vanderbilt Interdisciplinary Care Program (VICP) service, which allows her to work with a team to support and advocate for this population of patients and help them improve their quality of life. Dr. Holmes also enjoys serving regularly at a teaching hospital in Chogoria, Kenya, helping to train Kenyan medical residents.
