Professional Bio
Natalie Spradlin, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology within the Department of Medicine, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Dr. Spradlin followed an unconventional path to her medical career. After graduating college magna cum laude with a BA in English, she taught high school English for one year. However, she had completed the required coursework for medical school admission during college and entered medical school in 2001. She began medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center but then transferred to Vanderbilt University School of Medicine (VUMC) for her final two years of school after working in vaccine research with Dr. Kathyrn Edwards.
After graduating from medical school, Dr. Spradlin completed her internal medicine internship and residency at VUMC followed by a year of laboratory research under Dr. Christine Chung. During that same year, she also worked at local hospitals as a staff physician caring for hospitalized individuals. She then completed hematology and oncology fellowship training at VUMC, serving as chief fellow during her final year.
Since completing her training in 2012, Dr. Spradlin has maintained board certification in oncology, hematology as well as internal medicine. She offers hematology/oncology care for a multitude of benign and malignant disorders with Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center at the Cool Springs and Spring Hill network sites and served as interim site lead physician in 2021-2022.
